Don McHenry is a former professional basketball player who played in the NBA during the 1980s. He was born on November 25, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois. McHenry played college basketball at DePaul University, where he was a standout player for the DePaul Blue Demons. After a successful college career, he entered the NBA.
McHenry was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the second round (No. 31 overall) of the 1983 NBA Draft. However, his time with the Bulls was relatively brief, and he played for a number of different teams during his professional career, including the New Jersey Nets and the San Antonio Spurs.
Although McHenry wasn’t a star in the NBA, he contributed to his teams in various roles. His time in the league was marked by his versatility as a forward, though he was primarily used as a bench player. After his NBA career, McHenry continued playing professional basketball overseas in Europe.
While he may not have reached the same level of fame as some of his NBA peers, McHenry’s time in the league helped establish him as a solid role player who contributed wherever he went. His legacy remains connected to his time at DePaul and his brief stint in the NBA.
