what is field goal in basketball
A field goal in basketball refers to any basket made from the floor during regular play, meaning a shot made from anywhere on the court, except for free throws. Field goals can be worth two or three points, depending on the player’s distance from the basket:
– A two-point field goal is made from inside the three-point line.
– A three-point field goal is made from beyond the three-point line.
If the ball is successfully shot and goes through the hoop, it counts as a field goal, and the player earns the appropriate points.
