In women’s college basketball, a player is disqualified from the game after committing 5 personal fouls. This rule is consistent with NCAA regulations. If a player accumulates 5 fouls (personal or technical), they must leave the game, and the team plays without them for the remainder of the game.
In terms of team fouls, once a team reaches 7 personal fouls in a half, the opposing team is awarded free throws for each subsequent foul (this is known as the “bonus”). If a team reaches 10 personal fouls in a half, the opposing team enters the “double bonus,” meaning they are awarded two free throws for each additional foul.
Technical fouls are separate from personal fouls and are typically penalized by awarding the opposing team free throws and possession of the ball.
